Ongoing home-loan support

Regular Home Loan Interest Rate Reviews

Your home loan should not be forgotten after settlement.

Interest rates, lender pricing and available loan options can change over time. A home loan that was competitive when it was established may not remain appropriately priced as the lending market and your circumstances change.

LnL Finance provides regular interest-rate reviews for our existing clients. We review your current rate and contact your lender directly where appropriate to ask whether a more competitive rate may be available.

Is Your Home Loan Rate Still Competitive?

Many homeowners continue making repayments without knowing how their interest rate compares with the pricing their lender may currently offer.

A rate review provides an opportunity to check:

  • Your current interest rate

  • The rate your lender may offer following a pricing request

  • The features and fees attached to your loan

  • Whether your loan still suits your current circumstances

  • Whether a broader home-loan review may be worthwhile

A lower advertised interest rate does not automatically mean a loan is more suitable. Fees, features, loan structure, eligibility requirements and the costs of changing loans must also be considered.

We Review Our Clients’ Interest Rates Regularly

Our support does not necessarily finish when your loan settles.

LnL Finance reviews existing clients’ home-loan interest rates on a regular basis. Where appropriate, we approach the client’s current lender directly and request a pricing review.

This can help identify whether the lender is prepared to offer a more competitive rate without requiring the client to immediately refinance to another lender.

The outcome of a pricing request depends on factors including:

  • The lender’s current pricing policies

  • The type and structure of the loan

  • The outstanding loan balance

  • The property’s value and loan-to-value ratio

  • The borrower’s repayment history

  • The lender’s assessment criteria

  • Current market conditions

A lender is not required to reduce an interest rate, and a review will not always result in a pricing change. However, regularly checking the loan helps ensure the rate is not being left unreviewed for an extended period.

How Our Interest Rate Review Works

1. We review your current loan

We start by checking your current interest rate and relevant loan details.

Depending on the circumstances, we may ask you to provide an up-to-date home-loan statement or other information required to review the loan accurately.

2. We contact your existing lender

Where appropriate, we approach your lender directly to request a review of the interest rate applied to your loan.

This allows the lender an opportunity to reconsider its pricing before broader refinancing options are explored.

3. We explain the lender’s response

We let you know the outcome of the request and explain what it means for your home loan.

Possible outcomes may include:

  • The lender offers a reduced interest rate

  • The lender confirms the existing rate will remain unchanged

  • Further information is required

  • A broader home-loan review may be worth considering

4. We discuss the next step

If the lender does not make a suitable pricing change, we can discuss whether a broader review of the loan may be appropriate.

This does not necessarily mean that refinancing will be recommended. The potential benefits must be considered against fees, eligibility requirements, loan features and the costs associated with changing lenders.

5. We continue to review the loan

Interest-rate reviews should not be treated as a once-only exercise.

We maintain contact with our existing clients and review home-loan rates regularly, helping ensure the loan continues to receive appropriate attention as lender pricing and personal circumstances change.

Why Regular Rate Reviews Matter

Lender pricing can change

Banks and lenders periodically change their interest rates, discounts and pricing policies. The rate available to a borrower may change even when the official cash rate has not moved.

New customers may receive different pricing

Lenders sometimes offer different discounts or pricing to attract new customers. Existing customers may not automatically receive the same pricing without requesting a review.

Small rate changes can affect repayments

Even a modest change in an interest rate may affect repayments and the total interest charged over time. The actual impact depends on the loan balance, remaining term and repayment structure.

Your financial circumstances can change

Income, property value, equity, liabilities and future plans may change after settlement. These changes may affect whether the current loan structure remains appropriate.

Reviewing does not mean you have to refinance

The first step may simply be asking the existing lender to reconsider the rate. Refinancing should only be considered after reviewing the potential benefits, costs and suitability of available alternatives.

When Should You Request a Home Loan Rate Review?

A rate review may be worthwhile if:

  • Your home loan has not been reviewed recently

  • Your lender has increased your interest rate

  • You are unsure what rate you are currently paying

  • You have held the same loan for several years

  • Your property may have increased in value

  • Your loan balance has reduced substantially

  • Your fixed-rate period is approaching its end

  • Your interest-only period is approaching its end

  • Your financial circumstances have changed

  • You are considering refinancing, renovating or purchasing another property

You do not need to wait until you are unhappy with your lender. A regular review can help identify potential issues before they become more significant.

Existing LnL Finance Clients

LnL Finance aims to maintain an ongoing relationship with clients after settlement.

Our regular rate-review process is designed to help existing clients understand whether their current lender is still providing appropriate pricing. Where suitable, we contact the lender directly and request a review on the client’s behalf.

If you have changed your email address, phone number or other contact details since your loan settled, please let us know so we can keep your records current.

Not Yet an LnL Finance Client?

You can still contact us to request a broader review of your existing home loan.

We will first seek to understand:

  • Your current loan and interest rate

  • Your financial circumstances

  • Your reasons for requesting a review

  • Your short-term and longer-term plans

  • The loan features that are important to you

Where appropriate, we can discuss whether approaching your current lender or comparing alternative options may be a suitable next step.

Compliance

The outcome of an interest-rate or home-loan review depends on individual circumstances and lender requirements. A lender is not required to reduce an interest rate. Refinancing may involve fees and other costs, and a lower interest rate does not necessarily mean a loan is more suitable. Your full financial situation and requirements should be considered before proceeding with a lending product.
